David found himself unable to concentrate on his work. The computer screen swam before his eyes. He kept glancing at the letter sitting on his desk. It was just an envelope, but it felt like a bomb ticking down to an explosion.

He had felt a knot in his stomach since he had gotten the mail. He kept clenching and unclenching his fists. He kept replaying the events in his head, the same sickening feeling washing over him again and again.

He slammed his fist down on the desk, startling himself. He needed to do something, anything, to break the hold this letter had on him. But what?
